Double-stroke technique

The complex bridge segment of "Constant Motion" by Dream Theater is facilitated using the double-stroke technique.

In Rock Band advanced techniques, double-stroking 'or' double-hitting describes hitting the same drum twice in rapid succession with the same stick. This is done by hitting the pad with proper form and grip in order to let the stick rebound slightly and hit the pad a second time. This technique is used by professional drummers in order to execute complex fills as well as drum rolls. Among Rock Band drummers, this skill is typically acquired shortly after attaining the expert level.
