Metallica is an iconic heavy metal/thrash metal band formed in 1983 in California. They are considered one of the "Big Four" of thrash, along with Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax.

Metallica has released nine albums, with their last five albums reaching #1 on the Billboard charts, making them the only band in history to do so. Their newest album, Death Magnetic, was released September 10, 2008. A Guitar Hero: Metallica was released on March 29, 2009.

TriviaEdit

  • If you combine the Death Magnetic DLC, the one song in Guitar Hero: World Tour, all the songs Guitar Hero: Metallica and the Metallica Pack 01 for Rock Band, you end up with not only the entirety of Death Magnetic, but also nearly the entire Ride The Lightning album (two songs, Escape and Call of Ktulu are missing), a little under half of the Black album, and a little over half of ...And Justice For All.
  • Around fifty percent of Metallica's entire catalog is playable in rhythm games, more than almost any other artist to date. Funnily enough, there is only one full album from them available for download for any game, where as bands like Judas Priest and Red Hot Chilli Peppers have full length albums (sometimes several of them) available for purchase on the RBN or Guitar Hero Stores.
  • The members of Metallica performed each of their respective mocap parts for Guitar Hero: Metallica instead of the animations being programed in after the fact.
  • Drummer Lars Ulrich actually had some trouble recording some of the mocap parts for some of the songs in Guitar Hero: Metallica, and took multiple takes to get some of them right.
  • The only bassist featured in Guitar Hero: Metallica is Robert Trujillo, even though their unlockable 80s era costumes are from the Cliff Burton era.
  • There is, unfortunately, no Black album era attire available for the band in GH: Metallica.
  • Nearly every song (guest acts included) in Guitar Hero: Metallica can be imported to future titles all the way up to Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. There are very few songs that don't transfer.
