She's Country is a song by Jason Aldean who debuted this hillbilly anthem at the 2008 Country Music Awards.

This was co-written by the former member of Country music band Western Flyer, Danny Myrick, who also co-penned Craig Morgan's 2007 song "International Harvester." The other writer was Bridgette Tatum, for whom this was her first credit on a hit recording.

On this song Aldean sings so fast he almost appears to be rapping.

He explained to AOL: "Because of how fast the words are, it's like rapid fire singing. I didn't know if I could get all the words out. I'm from Georgia and we talk slow down there! The more I listened to it in my car and started singing along with it, then I found the places I could breathe, so I knew I could sing it all the way through. Once that happened, we went in and cut it, and we thought we had something really cool in the studio... but you never know until you put it out there."

This was Aldean's second country chart-topper. He achieved his previous #1 hit with "Why" on the May 27, 2006 tally.

Danny Myrick and Bridgette Tatum told AOL's The Boot the story behind the song: Tatum explained: "Originally I was trying to rhyme something with the slang for my state, South Carolina, which is called South Kakalakie, but they ended up taking the line out. The song came to me while I was driving, so I pulled over in the Target parking lot in Nashville and started singing the thing in my phone. Then I took it to Danny.

Myrick continued: "I think a lot of us grew up on a combination of bands, like Alabama. I grew up on 80s country, then rock bands like AC/DC and the kinds of bands that Jason is into. Bridgette and I write a lot of stuff that mirrors the rock guitar riffs with southern rock country lyrics. This song is a perfect marriage of that. When we finished it, the only question I had was that in the chorus, where we said 'she's country enough,' was that enough to say? Sometimes when an idea comes along it becomes an anthem. Bridgette mentioned several times throughout the process that it's been a while since an anthem to country girls has come along. So it kind of took on a life of its own. After we finished it, we did the demo with all those guitar riffs... Our demo is pretty aggressive, and it might have scared Jason a little bit, but we felt pretty confident about it. I had just had a single with Big & Rich So he's, 'Loud,' and they were done recording. So I was thinking, 'Man, the only person left who could do this song is Jason Aldean.' So he was the first one we went to, and they loved it immediately. Friends told us what it's like when a song takes on a life of its own, but this is our first time to experience this. It was amazing to watch it on the charts -- every week it made a significant move, it never slowed down. Jason sang the song on the CMA Awards last November, and the record company allowed 24 hours of free downloads after that performance. It had 20,000 downloads in 1 day, and by now it's had more than 600,000 downloads."

This was the most-played Country song of 2009, according to industry website Mediabase's monitoring services. It was followed by the Zac Brown Band's "Whatever It Is" and Darius Rucker's "It Won't Be Like This For Long."
